Public Consultation on the future of Birmingham Libraries

You may be aware that there is a public consultation on the future of the Library service in Birmingham happening until 17th July 2024 and we need to gather as much feedback as possible on proposals for the service. In particular we are keen to understand Library usage, why people use/don’t use libraries and how we can make them more relevant. Can you please take a moment to read about how you and your groups can participate in the consultation process:

Complete the full Be Heard questionnaire either online: Libraries Consultation 2024 – Birmingham City Council – Citizen Space (birminghambeheard.org.uk) or paper versions of the questionnaire are available at all libraries, (where they can also be returned) and there’s a copy attached.
We also have a short children’s questionnaire (5 questions), Word version attached or there’s a link to the Children form 3-11yrs link https://forms.office.com/e/aq605X16ze
Visit the Library Consultation webpages to have a look at the proposals: Libraries consultation | Consultations to Help Us Reshape | Birmingham City Council

Attend one of the online consultation sessions taking place 6pm – 7pm between Mon 3rd June – Fri 7th June, links to the meetings are available here Libraries consultation | Consultations to Help Us Reshape | Birmingham City Council, these are information gathering sessions and you are welcome to attend any session as they will all follow the same format and are not library specific.

Use the consultation mailbox to send any questions, comments, suggestions:

We would like to hear the views of all citizens, whether they are current library users or not and in particular, those who fall under the Equality Act Protected Characteristics through focused engagement. As part of this focused engagement, we would be happy to come to any groups that are running to talk about the consultation and gather feedback, so if this is something you’d like us to do please let me know via the consultation mailbox and put Focused Engagement in the subject title of the email:
Thank you for your time.
